By Dr. Claus Holm, Chair ofASEM Lifelong Learning Research & Education HUB Aarhus University, Denmark.
If you ask the question "what is democracy?" in Denmark, my home country, you will often get the answer, that democracy is dialogue. And without further comparison I would like to start my presentation with a similar question "What is ASEM LLL Hub?" - and also like to answer, that ASEM LLL Hub is about dialogue, and a platform for ongoing dialogue about comparative research on lifelong learning in Asia and Europe
and this dialogue was initiated in Denmark at The Fourth ASEM Heads of State Summit in Copenhagen in 2002 and adopted at the Fifth ASEM Sumit in Hanoi two year later. And today, in 2013, ASEM LLL Hub is an official network of over 40 Asian and European higher education institutions, working and learning together to achieve excellence in comparative research on lifelong learning to offer research based education policy recommendations and to develop mutual understanding between Asia and Europe.
