On 05-07 September 2016, SEAMEO VOCTECH organised their 27th Governing Board Meeting at Saigon Vissai Hotel, Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. On this occasion, SEAMEO CELLL was pleased to send a standing bouquet to the meeting as a sign of warmest congratulations and best wishes to SEAMEO VOCTECH.
Also in the event, SEAMEO VOCTECH invited SEAMEO CELLL to give a presentation on the theme “TVET Initiatives in Strengthening Regional Cooperation” and Mr Mai Hong Quan, SEAMEO CELLL’s Deputy Research and Training Manager was designated as the guest presenter. In his presentation, Mr Quan pointed out the tight relationship between LLL and TVET, highlighting that TVET is an important integral component of LLL and stressing that the transformative TVET must emphasise on LLL so as to bring TVET not only to young people and adults but also to all individuals who wish to participate in learning activities. To conclude the presentation, he mentioned the urgent need of the endorsement of Vietnam’s National Qualification Framework and underlined that the implementation of such a framework will tremendously benefit the country in the context of the ASEAN Economic Community.
On the following day, the meeting programme continued by a centre visit to SEAMEO CELLL’s premises by SEAMEO VOCTECH GB members and Dr Tinsiri Siribodhi, SEAMEO Secretariat Deputy Director.
SEAMEO Centre for Lifelong Learning is a fully functional unit of SEAMEO (the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation), responsible for studying and promoting lifelong learning in ASEAN.
The Centre is conducting a two-year regional research study into lifelong learning in Southeast Asia entitled Towards a Lifelong Learning Agenda for Southeast Asian Countries. The project is intended to support Southeast Asian countries in development and implementation of holistic and comprehensive lifelong learning approaches that link different sectors and forms of learning. This will be done by studying the best practices in lifelong learning in ASEAN countries, identifying common features that can be replicated in other countries of the region, disseminating this knowledge through a publication and an online interactive portal, and making recommendations at ministerial-level meetings in 2017.
For this project, SEAMEO CELLL is seeking a consultant to work within a period of 4.5 months. Details are given below. A downloadable version is also available here.
