After much work of facilities and information material preparation, SEAMEO CELLL established a division in charge of website construction and development for the centre. The group had been working hard to publish the website in 1/2014.
In the short term, SEAMEO CELLL website is expected to include some essential information tabs (both in Vietnamese and English): Home; About Us; Resources; and Linkages. Over its operation, the Centre will soon add more information tabs depending on the mission demands at each particular stage.
The national workshop “Building a learning society in Vietnam: from Vision to Action” was held in Hanoi from 17 to 18 December, 2013. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien, who is also Head of the National Steering Committee on Building a Learning Society (NSC-BLS), members of the NSC-BLS, delegates from United Nations agencies, the World Bank, UNESCO Office in Hanoi, and UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning attended and spoke at the workshop.
The participants shared, discussed and exchanged experience of building a learning society, helping expand on the vision and provide Vietnam with necessary information to develop a national action plan for building a learning society for the period 2012-2020.
SEAMEO CELLL DIRECTOR ATTENDS 2nd THINK-TANK MEETING ON POSITIONING LIFELONG LEARNING IN THE POST 2015 AGENDA
At the invitation of the Organization Department, SEAMEO CELLL Director attended the 2nd Think-Tank Meeting on Positioning Lifelong Learning in the Post-2015 Agenda at UiL (UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning) in Hamburg, Germany from 12 to 13 December 2013. Participants in the meeting were 17 delegates from all regions of the world, representing UNESCO, EU, WHO, UNICEF, World Bank… and 20 UiL's experts. The purpose of the meeting is to redefine the position of lifelong learning in the post-2015 universal development agenda. SEAMEO CELLL Director delivered a report on the process of formulating lifelong learning policies in ASEAN countries and offered recommendations on policies from the seminar on Lifelong learning policies in ASEAN countries held in Hanoi in early 2013.
Serving the function of a research centre and information-consultation provider on lifelong learning, the Research and Training Department has compiled an English-Vietnamese glossary of general education and lifelong learning terms with approximately 500 items, including extended definitions of 120 most important and/or common terms in documents concerning adult education/ lifelong learning. This glossary has been sent to experts for assessment, and suggestions to be incorporated as part of the Handbook on Building a Learning Society within the framework of the project on building a learning society, approved by the Prime Minister in the Decision 89/QĐ-Ttg signed on January 9, 2013.
