The 5th Adult Education and Development Confererence (AEDC) was organised in Tbilisi, Geogia on 11-12 October 2017 by DVV International with support of its partners. The conference addressed topics of global relevance and strategic measures to promote world-wide adult education. More than 120 practitioners, researchers and key stakeholders shared concepts and insights regarding the potential of adult education centres for development where responsibilities, structures, benefits and wider impacts received special attention. The Conference agreed on a set of Key Messages corresponding to the three thematic blocks: 1. Public responsibility in adult and youth education 2. AEC/CLC as important structures 3. Benefits and Wider Impact of AEC/CLC
SEAMEO CELLL Director was invited to join a panel discussion on characteristics and particular challenges of adult education centres where he introduced the roles of community learning centres (CLCs) in the region and briefly analyses challenges these structures were facing in terms of programme quality, governance and financing.
