THE 49th SEAMEC The 49th SEAMEO Council Conference took place on 24-27 July 2017 at the Hotel Mulia Senayan, Jakarta, Indonesia with the participation of 209 delegates from SEAMEO member countries, associate member countries, affiliate partners, SEAMEO centres, observers and the SEAMEO Secretariat. The 49th SEAMEO Council Conference tabled a total of 31 working papers on reports and updates of the inititatives of SEAMEO centres as well as collaborative programmes between SEAMEO units and partners. Among the working papers endorsed by the 49th SEAMEC was SEAMEO CELLL’s on the flagship project “Towards a Lifelong Learning Agenda in Southeast Asian Countries” together with the project compendium “Lifelong Learning in Transformation: Promising Practices in Southeast Asia”. Ms Cao Thi Thu Hien, SEAMEO CELLL Manager of Personnel and Administration was honoured to receive the Service Award granted by the SEAMEO Council President on this occasion. The Conference also witnessed the establishment of 3 new SEAMEO Centres, namely: SEAMEO Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP) in Indonesia; SEAMEO Regional Centre for Community Education Development (SEAMEO CED) in Lao PDR and SEAMEO Regional Centre for Technical Education Development (SEAMEO TED) in Cambodia. CDM 2017 The SEAMEO Centre Directors Meeting (CDM) 2017 was held from 26 to 28 July 2017 at Graha Utama Room, Building A, Ministry of Education and Culture Office Jakarta, Indonesia, back to back with the 49th SEAMEO Council Conference. Participating in the meeting were 80 participants from 21 SEAMEO Centres/Network and the SEAMEO Secretariat, one representative from Associate Member Country, two representatives from SEAMEO Affiliate Members, three Partners and three Observers. A special session for the SEAMEO Centre/Network Directors was convened on 26 July 2017. Agenda items included the presentation of the proposed 3-Years Cooperation Programme between the Ministry of Education and Culture, Indonesia with SEAMEO Centres and SEAMEO Secretariat. The second part of the Day 1 session is on Inter-Centre Collaboration (ICC) which is a validation and review of the proposed collaboration between and among SEAMEO Centres and SEAMEO Secretariat that had been conducted online. A total of 15 working papers was presented and adopted at the meeting, among these was working paper 10 by SEAMEO CELLL “Updates on the Project Towards a Lifelong Learning Agenda in Southeast Asian Countries”.
