SEAMEO SPAFA's Traditional Southeast Asian Music Competition on Mobile Applications are open to submissions. 

As an organization supporting activities in archaeology, arts and culture in Southeast Asia, SEAMEO SPAFA acknowledges the importance of traditional music of the Southeast Asian region as an important form of cultural expression in need of preservation. Meanwhile, the Centre also believes that technology, especially mobile technology, can be used as a possible tool to encourage Southeast Asian youths to be exposed to, play and create traditional music. Hence, SEAMEO SPAFA is holding the 'Traditional Southeast Asian Music Competition on Mobile Applications'.

2018 SEAMEO-Japan ESD Award, Theme: Applying Local Wisdom for Environmental Conservation

​The SEAMEO Secretariat and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan (MEXT) in cooperation with UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education are pleased to announce the 2018 SEAMEO-Japan Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Award, with the theme of “Applying Local Wisdom for Environmental Conservation”.    
 
The objectives of this year’s award scheme are:
 
1)    To raise awareness of local wisdom applied for environmental conservation and sustainable development in schools and communities in Southeast Asia and Japan.
 
2)    To promote and share initiatives and good practices that support sustainable development through the integration of local wisdom into the teaching and learning practices and school programmes that protects local environment and develops local community. 
 
3)    To encourage schools to develop and improve current ESD activities and programmes.
 
We would like to invite all public and private schools as well as vocational and technical schools (certificate level) in 11 SEAMEO Member countries, namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam to submit the information about their respective school’s activities/programmes relating to the theme.  Details of the award and guidelines for submission of entries are available in the SEAMEO website: www.seameo.org.  The last day for submission of entries is on 3 September 2018.

HCMC University of Education is hosting the 3rd International Conference on English Language Teaching themed “Promoting ELT: Diverse Perspectives and New Horizons” on Aug 25, 2018. 

The Organizing Committee would like to invite all interested scientists, educational
administrators, lecturers, and teachers of English to attend and send papers to the
Conference.

Registration of intended speakers to participate in the Conference should be made no later than 10 August 2018 and an abstract and biodata should be submitted no later than the 1 July 2018.

Bangkok Summer Course Scholarship

Bangkok Summer Course Scholarship of “International Experience”  will be held in Bangkok, Thailand (Silapakorn University) from 31 July to 11 August 2018. 

​Registration is currently open to Bachelor Degree students of all years and majors with nationalities of ASEAN Member Countries, exclusive of Thailand.  The scholarship will cover flight itinerary, 2-week accommodation, and courses & workshops in international experience and cultural trips.  The deadline for confirmation is on 
18 June 2018, with availability limited to 20 seats.

Since 1967, UNESCO International Literacy Prizes have rewarded excellence and innovation in the field of literacy. Over 485 projects and programmes undertaken by governments, non-governmental organizations and individuals around the world have been recognized. Through these prestigious Prizes, UNESCO seeks to support effective literacy practices and encourages the promotion of dynamic literate societies.
 
In this context, you will find attached the call to nominate candidates for the 2018 edition of the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes, inviting you to submit nominations for this year (see attached documents).
 
Every year, the prizes are organized around a specific theme. This year’s focus is on: ‘Literacy and Skills Development’.
 
The nomination process will take place via an online platform. An applicant can access the online application form by requesting the creation of a user account through this link:www.unesco.org/ilp/account. The deadline for nominations is Sunday 17 June 2018.

The Humanitarian Affairs and the Ministry of Education of Thailand will co-organise the 9th University Scholars Leadership Symposium (USLS) 2018 from 1 to 7 August 2018 at the United Nations in Bangkok, Thailand.
 
The University Scholars Leadership Symposium is a week-long leadership development training programme.  The Symposium will bring together 1,000 of the world’s most promising leaders to one stimulating platform in the heart of Asia.  The programme has been designed for young persons who are committed to making this world a much better place for the human race.

CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR A SHORT-TERM CONSULTANCY IN CAMBODIA

DVV International Country Office Cambodia and the Department for Non-Formal Education (DNFE) of the Ministry for Education, Youth and Sports are looking for a short-term expert, who supports the Department in developing Vocational Skills Teacher Text Book for CLCs and providing training on Curriculum Development to DNFE Staff.

Required Expertise:
The consultant is expected to have the following skills:
  • At least 5 years of proven experience on similar work in Non-Formal Education.
  • Curriculum development skills
  • Expertise in designing and implementing trainings on curriculum development
 Knowledge of Khmer language is an asset, but not obligatory.

Period:
3 months between August and December 2018
Deadline for submission: 30 April 2018

The Guizhou Government Scholarship for Southeast Asia 2018 is open for application from now until 30 June 2018. 
 
The Guizhou Government Scholarship for Southeast Asia is a scholarship programme funded by Guizhou Government and managed by Guizhou Provincial Department of Education (GPDE) for 1,554 Southeast Asian students to pursue certificates and degrees in 23 tertiary level institutions in Guizhou Province, P R China commencing from Academic Year 2018 in various levels and types of education: doctoral, master, bachelor, vocational education, and continuing education.  Attached is the Information Brochure of the aforementioned scholarship for your reference.

Call for nominations for 2018 UNESCO Prize for Girls' and Women's Education

The call for nominations for the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education was launched on 8 March, International Women’s Day.

​Established in 2015 and funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of China, the Prize honours outstanding and innovative practices advancing girls’ and women’s education. It consists of two US $50,000 awards to help further the work of laureates in this field. This Prize honours outstanding innovation and contributions made by individuals, institutions and organizations in advancing girls’ and women’s education. The first edition of the Prize was awarded in 2016 to two laureates from Indonesia and Zimbabwe, and the 2017 laureates were from Thailand and Peru.

The deadline for submission of nominations is 11 May 2018 and the online platform is available both in English and French.  A copy of the Explanatory note on the nomination process is attached for your information.
