Bangkok, Thailand, 30 November - 04 December 2015. SEAMEO CELLL attended the training workshop on “Development Evaluation” held by SEAMEO. The workshop was organized in an effort to enhance evaluation capacity among SEAMEO workforce which has assumed paramount importance and relevance to SEAMEO as a regional development organization. It was also the realization of the organization’s initiative on continuous and sustained internal capacity building. The workshop was joined by 38 participants from 21 SEAMEO Regional Centres.
During the workshop, the participants, with facilitation with leading experts in the field, had the opportunity to discuss the basic principles, standards, and concepts of development evaluation and training impact evalution. They also brought to the workshop projects and programs of their own centers for practice exercises in many different aspects of development evaluation. Through ten lectures and three plenary sessions for learning output presentations, the participants gained a good understanding of the tools, techniques, and stages involved in the process of evaluating a project. At the end of the workshop, the participants generally succeeded in producing an evaluation protocol for their centers’ projects that could be implemented upon return to station.
